Krin, I am very much loving this feature, especially the released pets aspect of it. First, it will clean up the cheap pets on the market.... which I did quite a few! Next, it will help give people a reason to clean their extras out of the stables and Third, we may get a themed egg out of the deal! I hope this helps stabilize the market as you are wishing!
I do have a question, since this will help drastically with the pets being released, are you still planning on a contest for release this Spring Fest? I know it is a bit ahead of time here.... but, my thought is, I hope there isn't a contest. I spent way too much time junk breeding to release pets for that contest, and I know others did the same. I don't think this is a good way to breed.... I didn't particularly enjoy it.

I can't promise that there won't be, but to be 100% honest at this point in time, I have no idea and there is an equal chance of it not happening as there is of it happening.

The future of Festivals in general is very up in the air atm because it's going to depend on a thousand different factors. It will have to be something we figure out when the time comes... which will probably be in about a month from now.

And then, even if there is a Spring Festival like recent Spring Festivals, there is no guarantee at all that it will have Leaderboards - let alone Leaderboards that function like they have.

Just - too many factors to consider atm.

So, continuing to hoard pets for a Spring Festival Release Contest very well could be futile as there very likely could not even be one. However, I'm not going to say that there 100% for sure won't be because I just don't know.

If this new feature goes well and really drops the demand for pet hoarding and cheap selling, then most definitely there won't be.

Sounds like an awesome idea! I'd be curious to know just how many increases the rate but I have to clear out some old pets soon anyway.

To be clear though, if you haven't found a nest yet that's spawned, but you release more pets in the meantime those pets will not go to the next spawn. You have to actually claim the current nest for it to reset, correct?

This definitely seems like a good way to motivate players to release old pets though.

Fair enough, Krin! I do understand what you are saying, but definitely curious to see where all this leads! I wish you luck in all things Sylestia related and all the planning, programming and implementing your visions! I do think this will be a big step in easing the hoards.... but I am not planning on releasing any of my tagged hoard!
edit: well maybe a few that haven't sold.... but not many >_<

You can now safely release pets to obtain Abandoned Nest encounter spawn bonuses. Just to reiterate, the following is required for this to apply:

#1. You have access to the Lost Grove
#2. The Pet that you are releasing is 42 Days of Age or older

Additionally, this bonus is reset every time that you find an Abandoned Nest in the Lost Grove.

Lastly, Abandoned Nests are now live and can be found in the Lost Grove. All players will start off with a decent bonus to finding one for their first Eggling. =)

Happy hunting!

Correct, when you interact with a Nest it will force you to either Adopt It or Leave It. Once you choose one of those options, the counter is reset and starts over.

Hm, what's the ideal number of pets to release to gain a significant drop rate? Rather, how much is the rate increased per pet released?

I don't like giving out raw numbers because I don't want players to focus on numbers for features instead of just enjoying the feature itself.

I guess I can say though... you probably shouldn't release more than 50-100 at a time.

A single release helps though and the first one released helps just as much as the 50th. Each one increases the chance of a spawn triggering after each node you encounter.

Wow, this is great!! I was just saying to my mom how people should release more pets. This is good incentive. I'm going to release some now.
