What's the 'bump' thing whenever someone sells something?

Whenever someone posts on a thread, it automatically goes to the top of the first page. So if someones thread has not been posted on for a while, it goes down to the bottom of the page or to the next page where people won't see it as much, so they 'bump' the page, posting on it, making it go back to the top of the page so people see it and click on it.
But there is a rule that you can't bump your thread till it is on the second page.
