I haven't watched the anime that much, and I think it would be a better interaction if it was maybe another rper

i should also add, exceeds in the anime/manga are usually for support. Their able to carry one person, if stronger possibly two, but their usually for support and don't do the fighting.

(well with Natsu, Happy(the exceed) was raised, hatched form an egg. But one of the other characters, i haven't watched in a while so i forgot his name, umm... 'adopted' an exceed? Its hard to explain XD but yeah lets say adoption is an option.)
