Well first off, sculptures have to have agents used on them to progress, they won't progress naturally over time.

You will only lose a sculpture under 30% if you have not used any pearls on it. If it has a pearl, it is perfectly safe. If you have a sculpture that doesn't have any pearl, it will have to be at least 30% for it to be harvested for you. If it isn't 30%+, it just won't be harvested, so you won't get it

This is common for all features like this.

Typically, you guys focus more on the Majestic/Fabled and will go through catalyst bags until you get said Majestic/Fabled (or the species you specifically were looking for), and then discard or just abandon the unwanted ones. Hundreds of players doing this ends up adding up to probably thousands of unused catalysts.

There's really no way around it.

Lately, I have been mostly 'refunding' unused supplies the following year if the feature is used again and players will basically receive gold at a specified conversion rate.

Yes, once the festival is over, there will be no way to access or use these items any further and they will not carry over to next year.

For regular catalysts, it takes 8 agents to surpass 30%.

For majestic, I believe it would be 12.
