You choose the golden glowing scale, and as you touch it to the staff a sylestie appears, flapping wildly, and lands on the ground pecking at some shiny scales.

You stretch your hand forward and touch the scale to the stone. There is a wild blue flash, and you turn your head away, blinking. When you look back, you see a sylestie chewing on the bottom part of the staff. It grins at you, before bounding up to your legs and licking them enthusiasticly.

After you gently touch the scale to the staff, the area around the jem glows so bright you don't know exactly when the sylestie appeared, but when it dies down you notice him clinging to your back, and nudging you.

Sure!

You touch the scale to the stone, wondering what sylestie will appear. There is a swirl of sparkles, and a sylestie jumps out of the staff, landing clumsily on your chest before you catch it as it falls to the floor. It looks at you with a shy expression.
