So... we are currently being DDoS'd.

Fortunately, our server can handle it and I simply have increased our max connections by about 1000%.

We'll see how it goes. Our Host has been notified so they'll look into more permanent solutions and look into stopping the attack.

It's a type of attack where multiple compromised systems, which are often infected with a Trojan, are used to target a single system.

It's like simulating 1000000+ people logging on to Sylestia in an attempt to overload the servers...at least I think.

But.. in a way, isn't this sorta a compliment? Like.. Sylestia has made it to the big time.

Yes. My guess is that someone probably paid some Site to DDoS us with their bot network. Basically, they use thousands of compromised devices all over the world to mass spam our Site with repeated connections.

In this situation, it's some random forum post.

It caused issues because I only allowed for a normal amount of max server connections which the bots were easily surpassing. However, after greatly increasing the max amount of connections, our server can handle the bots and normal traffic.


As to why someone would do this, I don't know. Teenage angst can be more than feeble minds can handle I guess.

LOL Kirin this teenage angst will be the end of us. It seems to fry some teenagers brains...and some people never grow out of it XD
