Every one but Ruby/Blood went nutty. "Your not supposed to ask that question!" They all yelped nervously. Ruby held up a hand. "It's fine she probably deserves to know. Sit."

Man, I'm pushing all the wrong buttons today. Frost sat down, suddenly nervous. Though her curiosity all but canceled it out.

Ruby sat down on a stool facing the couch. "It was 12 years ago when the first children were being hunted. I was 10 at the time and had no idea. It was a good life before he came. It happened on the first day of the fifth grade when a tremor struck the neighborhood. I tripped down the stairs injuring my ankle unable to walk at all. I decided I'd try to fly into the kitchen to tell my mother I was okay nothing broken when I heard a grunt then a yelp. I being a stupidly curious kid at the time flew towards the sounds. A stranger was battling my mother, both had either a sword or a knife. The stranger saw who he was looking for and disarmed my mother with ease and pushed her away. He of course marched toward me. I wasn't skilled at flying so of course I wasn't fast enough. He grabbed me by a tail and threw me down to the ground, and raised his weapon and brought it down. I expected death, but when I opened my eyes my mother was between me and the blade. Drops of blood dripped of the blade onto my face. I realized it went all the way through her. I nearly barfed. My mother got up, impalement and all and pulled the knife out and attempted to attack the stranger. My sister rushed in hearing screams and grunts. She stopped and dropped her lunch box. She immeadiatly went towards the nearest phone and dialed 911. I crawled towards her and she scooped me up and ran out the door. There was a loud shatter and our home was destroyed. The stranger chased us to the end of a cliff over looking the ocean near Emerald beach. My sister told me to fly. She walked towards the stranger her tail quivering. I hovered for a moment. Powerless to stop it. She fought the stranger till he pushed her of the cliff. I flew after her. She screamed and threw something into my arms just as her body hit the ground with a horrible crack. I slowed down and landed next to her. What she threw at me was mother's black neckerchief. That is all. I lost all hope, happiness, and joy. I swore to avenge them and to prevent any more children from losing their lives.
I trained till I was 18 and went of to start a resistance."

Frost's tail quivered, her eyes widened, and her ears were erect. "I... can see why you wouldn't... want to share that," she looked at her bandage again. "That must've been hard," she stood up.

Ruby's face stayed steeled. "Yeah." She fingered the faded black neckerchief around her neck.

Frost's eyes met hers. She didn't know what else to say, so she just turned towards the door. "I'll be back in a bit. I need to get some things for Sunburst," She also needed time to think. "Why did I ask?" She wondered aloud once she was well our of earshot

Rose looked at Frost curiously. She followed her to the door. "Mind if I come?" she asked.

"Umm... I don't see why not," Forst said, putting on a warm smile. after walking a while she turned to Rose. "Is Blood always so intense?"

"Yeah... It's because she lost someone recently...and then he suddenly comes back from the dead. This world is strange." Rose adjusted the rose that covered her right eye. Her hands are normally busy.

"That's true," Frost said with a quiet laugh. She wanted to ask what the yellow stuff was, but decided not to push her luck. Instaed she asked: "So, do you enjoy what you do?"
