I love the new wings better than the old ones, but I definitely agree that there should be some kind of compensation for the small wings. I also like the idea of transparent fairy wings.

I also want to go ahead and suggest some quick fixes to the Feathered Wings. This is just a little use of Scale and Skew in Photoshop, no line editing involved.

I agree and support every adjustment suggested in this thread so far! The new puffs are gorgeous but the wings really, really need adjustment. And please figure out some new Candy Wings :_(

Here's a comparison between fairy wings as it is current and what it would be with transparency using a design I was working on earlier.

Current

Transparency

Ugh!!! Why did you have to do this?!

They look so perfect it makes me so sad... the design just.. flows! It looks natural and effortless. I didn't realize how much the opaque wings stood out. Now I can't see anything else but those transparent wings.

I largely feel like a child who was promised a neat toy at ToysRUs only to find that they were sold out and had to leave empty handed. Gotta say, I'm close to a hissyfit.

I decided to do one on a puff with genes that contrast more and was curious if you think it still flows or not?

Ah, I see what you may be concerned about-- The nice contrasting colors don't pop as well as they do with the opaque.. But I still, personally, like the transparent better.

I feel like Puffs are flighty little ferocious pups, much like the Papillon breed they so closely resemble. Delicate but with a sting.. I feel that the transparent wings give them that softness that they need. The sting comes from all their little patterns lol.

Also, I must refer back to the actual name of the wings themselves, "Fairy Wings." Not "Butterfly Wings" or "Monarch Wings." I definitely think that Fairy Wings would be at least a bit transparent.

I didn't realize it, but the Jeweled Wings are slightly transparent, which I like too, but I feel that there needs to be a pretty transparent wing in the puffwing lineup. In my opinion, this is the only wing that is viable. Because of the large canvas of the wing (unlike icicle wings), and the limited hard lines (unlike the feathered wings) this is really the perfect option.

I'm one of those people who wants it all. So I would love if Fairy Wings became transparent and in the future, there were an opaque "Monarch Wing" version.

On a side note, Savynn, is that the same transparency percentage? It must be. I'm just really surprised at the difference. But I still think the design flows! I'm really glad you put this here because it's really a slam-dunk. What do you think of this second example? Do you still like your idea? Lots of others sure do~ ^-^;

I don't know if it's the same transparency percentage or not cause of the way I put it together. I saved an image of the puff with wings and without wings. Then with gimp I went in the one with the wings and erased away the rest of the puff best I could while trying to leave the wing lineart intact. (I gave up on a tiny bit of the back wing you can normally see though.) Then I went to the version without wings and pasted the wing layer on. I then took the erase tool and set it to about 6% and just erased away here and there trying to make it even more transparent towards the shoulder. So I don't know what the actual transparency is across the wing because of that. I just stopped when it looked like where it should be if that makes sense? That's how I did it with the first example as well.

I personally really like it and I definitely want something similar to it.

Really glad that other people like it, too!
