This is a thread about reserving posts in Admin contests - not in our own threads. Reserving in your own threads for layout purposes is totally understandable, reserving posts in admin contests is essentially just trying to take "the best parking space" on the front page when in actuality the admins, and many users, comb all the pages anyway. People are far less likely to have their entry actually seen when there's 500 "reserved" posts than when they've ended up with their entry on the 3rd page because all the other posts are full of entries.

But actually not long after this thread went up there was an admin action to do some cleaning up of this stuff which was much appreciated (thank you Faiona!) but the idea of having it in contest rules is a good one for the future :)
