Golden cake with cool whip frosting~

Delicious Flower Pancakes!

The Baking Ingredients


Prep: Put your pancake batter into a squirt bottle (refillable ketchup bottles work waaay better, but I couldn't find mine). Make the batter a bit thinner than the instructions call for. It needs to flow through the nozzle easily. If it's too thick, your pancake batter will clog up in the tip.


Step one - make the outline of flower and cook to a dark dark brown.
(though this particular pancake wasn't the one used in the final product - this one didn't brown up around the edges like it should have...yes I made like 6 flower pancakes before getting the perfect coloring and shape for the final submission.)


Step two - fill in the flower and cook the fill-in to a light golden brown - this gives your pancake a nice detailed effect (again - this is not the particular pancake I used by the time I was done - just a practice pancake to show the steps in creating the final product.)



Step 3 - Finally a photo worthy pancake! The pancake is all done cooking with darken edges around the flower to give it definition!




Final Step - Pancake is decorated with strawberries, powered sugar, and maple syrup.

That's so cool. I had done a pancake flower myself a few days ago, but nowhere near as pretty as yours!

Pancake Flower:
Chocolate chip strawberry vanilla pancakes. c:

I used a recipe I found online for strawberry vanilla pancakes, then decided to add chocolate chips as well~ Be careful if you try the recipe though, because the amount of vanilla is mislabeled: it says 2 tablespoons, but it really should be more like 1 tablespoon. The oil is not needed as well. I did only half the amount of salt too.

Gathered my ingredients. Not as many as I thought...


Batter is made and waiting to get fried!


Most of them are now fried and are cooling so I don't burn my poor fingers.


My best attempt at stacking them into a sort of perennial shape.


Fine donut puffs, you win. I'll turn you into bundles of Baby's Breath!

I want to thank you for the fun contest! It got me creating, imagining, teaching (teaching a new generations how to work with chocolate) and even reminiscing (my daughters and I used to do a lot of chocolate work together!). I had an awesome time planning and plotting my strategy for making a totally edible display!

Viola! The Flower!
I was working around the green house yesterday, and I found this beautiful blue flower! So large and perfect! Time to show the flower to my husband! Grabbing the pot, I walked inside with my sweet Griffi companion, Rogue..... little did I know a little green worm was crawling out of the pot! Bang Rogue decided that the worm was a threat and protected me by knocking the pot out of my hand!



By the way.... my family was happy I did this project as well.... they get all the leftover extras! LOL!

I ended up making more leaves than was necessary




The store didn't have any white fondant for the clouds so i made them pink lol, and since clouds to very in shape and sizes I added a heart shaped cloud.

I'm not exactly much of a baker, but I baked my very first cupcakes ever for this. XD
