Level Up Points
Make sure to spend your pet's level up points whenever they level! In the Battle Summary, there will be a purple + sign when your pet levels up. You can click on the image of your pet to visit their profile. Your pet earns 4 Level Up Points to spend on their stats every level.
Proficiency Points
At level 5 and every 5 levels after that your pet will earn 1 Proficiency Point. Make sure to go to their profile and spend their points! This is important in making sure your pets have an easier time in battle and to be able to learn their abilities.



I don't know how to apply these points to my pets, they're both level 21. Can someone please explain it to me. (newbie btw)

Any guide that refers to them is out of date, as they no longer exist.
They and the old proficiency system were removed and overhauled/revamped into the new proficiency system, which you can read up on here.

How do you use AP points? I know that they can be used for avatar merch, but every time I look everything has to be purchased with diamonds.

when you purchase an avi style you can use AP or diamonds but you can also buy generator space with AP

Dose the gender you choose is the one you get?

Okay, trying to parse out what is meant here, and our only conclusion is that you maybe mean 'in the breeding generator is the gender preview you pick the gender you get from the egg?' (because I know at least one person has asked/thought something like that before)
If that is what you mean, then the answer is 'no, it's random- the preview is just there to show what potential offspring could look like'.

If that is not what the question is about then I'll need a further clarification to be able to answer properly.
