I've seen carried traits in generators and such, but I never used them. Aren't they like traits but you can't see them? Do they pass down to their offspring or are they useless?

They do indeed have a chance to pass to their offspring.
Let's have a look at this lupora here.

She has these traits. The ones in green are carried, they have an N (representing nothing) in front. As you can see, each of the traits have two letters
When you breed a pet with another, they pass down one letter per trait.
So if I bred this lupora with another, for each carried trait, there would 1/2 a chance it would pass nothing (N) to the offspring, and there would be the other 1/2 chance it would pass the other letter. In order for the offspring to show a visible trait, it must not have an N in that trait. One letter comes from the mother, the other comes from the father.

Let's say this guy is the father, let's look at gene two. He will pass down a non-nothing letter no matter what, since both letters are not N. Therefore, the offspring will at least have one non-nothing letter. If the mother has in gene two (which she doesn't but let's pretend she does), she will either pass N or the other letter to the offspring. If she passes N, the offspring will have a carried trait, if she passes the other letter, then it will be visible.

Breeding is confusing and I'm bad at explaining. :P

This is a better breeding guide.

Hi there, I am currently stuck on the last phase of the tutorial. Whenever I go back to the Haven no one appears to speak with me.

That makes sense, but what if say the father passes down one non-N letter from his and the mother passes one non-N letter from hers, and their traits are different, whos trait do they get?

Good question, I'm pretty sure they get the trait with the letter that comes first in the alphabet?
I haven't really looked into it.

Im at Esiors Haven where the tutorial says I should be able to talk to townsfolk but there are no townsfolk that I can see to talk to. I have tried pressing on the quest and marketplace buttons but there are no quests avail either and just the basic market items on sale with no townsfolk there to talk to.

This is not supposed to happen.
From where you are, I'm pretty sure you're supposed to talk to the sheriff, who tells you where to go, in this case most likely the nightfall bandit camp. I would log out and back in to refresh the site, then see if the dialogue pops up next time you go to town. If you already have the dialogue, go to the destination that is new on your map. If after this you are still experiencing issues, I would go to Krinadon for help or email support@sylestia.com and tell them your issues. I hope your problem is solved, and this helped. Good luck!

We have a breakdown of how trait inheritance in sylesti works here, but basically, each sylesti has a 50/50 chance of passing down either of the letters it has in a trait slot, and the trait letters will always organise in order of dominance- that is, alphabetical order (N (nothing) is most dominant, though, so it goes N > A > B > C > D > E > etc)

so if you breed a pet with G1 AD with a pet with G1 BE, the offspring could have: AB, AE, BD, or DE

(this happens regardless of if a pet is genetested, since that only shows that the carried and hidden traits are present rather than making them exist, so many a newbie has had a surprise when they've bred two pets and they've ended up with an offspring that has a trait neither parent has visible- such as the potential DE offspring from the example above.)

Hi,
I've been playing for a couple of weeks and I have found a 'task log'. I was wondering how you get a task.
Thanks!
