Ive gotten my pet up to level 20 but its only had 1 proficiency point and no battle points, is there something i'm doing wrong?

Level up points no longer exist- whatever post you are looking at is out of date.
The entire Proficiency system+lv.up points were overhauled into the new system

Pets get a (1) prof point at lvs 0, 30, 60, 65, 70, and the stats scale with the pet's level and the number of points assigned to the stat- up to 3 per stat (currently the total is 5)

You can get up to 3 pets in your party. The only way to get more slots is to purchase them. There is someone in Esior's Haven and another in the Sanctuary of Saerielle.

Edit: The people are William the Hunter in the Sylesti Plaza in Esior's Haven and Jaxle Juniper in the Plaza in the Sanctuary of Saerielle.

> scroll down to the two dropdown menus under the pet info section (automatically displays the first pet in your first stable)

> left dropdown is to select stable (if you only have one stable, it's irrelevant), right is to select the pet

> select the pet you want on the party- their info should load

> hit the green + symbol next to the dropdown

> pet will be added to the team

> you can swap what pet is in which battle position by clicking on them in the party display

> when done, hit 'Set Party', which will lock your selection.

(> to remove a pet, hit the red - above that pet in the party display)

If you use a genetic scanner or tester or whatever, does it get used up? Or do you recharge it over time? Or do you buy a new one? Do you use gold to fix it? I don't even know what the point is if you can see what it is... I don't want to use mine because I don't understand how to use it or why.

If you have a standard genetic scanner, tester, etc. it gets used up and you cannot get a new one. However, you can buy an exceptional one using diamonds, and it can be used infinite times. The reason you might want to use a tester is because if you're breeding pets, you can use it to test the offspring, as they might have carried traits that you can only see with a tester.
