"You can use the hilt of my sword to snap the chain, if you want," he offered, closing his hand around the crystals

Jason gave a jocky smile and a shrug. "Eh,it's alright. I've got a tail to club it and claws that can bust most anything, from bones to crystals in the CrystalFields back in my realm." He said, then walked over to the gate and traced the metal with scaled and clawed hands now. He lowered his eyelids half way and seemed to be slowly breathing as he slipped a sharp claw into the whole on the lower part of the padlock. He looked about to pick it until he hissed and opened his jaws and something dark red and like thick liquid bubbled in the back of his throat.

Ash watched intently, resheathing his sword with his good hand.

Jason shut his eyes tight, letting the lava's heat build up in his throat though it hurt, then spat it sharply at the lock, hitting it accurately but also partially hitting his own hands with a smoking hiss from the burning scales and melting metal. He pulled back and watched both the lava and metal drip and melt to the ground quickly. He shook out his hands, wincing as some melted scales shed off to show burnt flesh but he ignored it with a shake of his head.

"Here," Ash said, handing back the crystals. "It seems as though you need them now. And, I don't think I can use my powers, either," Ash muttered, not very happy about that. He also said something else that sounded like, "you're a lot like him." Before she could reply, he entered the compound and scanned around warily. "Stay close to me."

Jason didn't want them,he was more worried about Ash's burn but stayed close, confused on what else Ash had said having not gotten it all. He did stay close but he once in a while held the crystals out to Ash.

Ash rejected the crystals every time. He suddenly tensed, looking around yet again. Large mounds of scrap metal lay piled about the yard as they walked through, the sharp edges glinting in the faint rays of dawn. Ash winced each time they passed one, keeping a wary eye on it as if it would leap up and attack him. Strange creatures scampered about the metal drifts, tiny men with ratlike features and tails. When they nibbled on a piece of metal, it rusted away under their teeth. They didn't bother them, but Ash shuddered whenever he saw one, his hand never leaving his sword.

Jason sighed softly and put a gentle wing around Ash's shoulders, only barely touching him,as to reassure him in a way saying silently I won't let it touch you as he looked around, watching with careful dark purple eyes. He kept flickering sparks around his fangs as he forced scales to recover most of his hands but it was more bloody than usual and it didn't look like it would be okay anytime soon but it also seemed he didn't care,at least about his own wounds.

Ash acted as if he didn't notice. The iron doors had more chains around them, but they had already been cut. Inside was dimly lit and it looked like an ordinary warehouse, empty and dark, though there were some skittering noises. More mountains of scrap metal littered the gloom, some larger than any of the four of them were tall

Jason was sorta relieved at no hint of Ash noticing,at least he assumed he didn't. He'd rather that than to anger the ice prince. His jaw gaped as he looked up at the huge mounds of scraps, small bits of lava still on his fangs, hissing tho not able to burn through his fangs.
