Witheredstar
Witheredstar suddenly gave a little chuckle. "I used to think I was so tough because of my name. Now it just seems like a bad omen." he turned away from his deputy so Thornfur wouldn't have to see the pain in his eyes. "We're all hungry and starving. If we lose one more cat we're leaving and that's that," he got up and shook his fur, "I know you just returned but would you like to join me for a walk? I need to get out of camp for awhile and clear my head."


Sorroweyes
He liked the apprentice, he truly did, but today was a bad day for him. He was hiding it very well but he had hurt his paw somehow while chasing the rat and it was still throbbing a bit. "Hunting. I just got back but I'm fien to go again. I expect you're up for it because the only thing I've seen you doing is napping." he said gruffly. Sorroweyes was being a bit unfair but he'd make it up to the apprentice later.

Reedpaw

Now fully awake she looked up and watched her clanmates. Noticing all the other Apprentices and their Mentors leaving to go train, she looked around the clearing for her mentor. Reedpaw spotted her napping on a rock with Mooneyes, she hesitated.
Should she bother Puddlestep or wait for her mentor to wake up on her own?

Undecided Reedpaw looked around camp,
Maybe I can tag along with someone else and their mentor? she thought, the tip of her tail twitching nervously.
She would rather go with her own mentor, but she also didn't want to sit around and do nothing all morning.

Thornfur

Thornfur listened to Witheredstar as he talked, feeling sympathy for his leader who was unable to do anymore than he's already tried to do for his clan. He nodded, he loved their home but he knew sooner than later another cat would pass and they would soon leave. He got to his paws and paws, "Do you mind if Hawthornpaw joins us? He's been in camp all day." He said watching as his apprentice stood up from his nap. He waved him over with the flick of his tail.

Fangpaw

He was eager to hunt today hoping he'd have better luck than the day before. He almost had a mouse until he stepped on a twig and scared it away chasing it and somehow tripping over his own paws into the forest floor. He rolled his eyes at his mentor's last remark though. "I had no clue where you were and I wasn't about to track you out of camp just to interrupt you hunting so I'd say my nap was quite okay." He said putting his tail high ready to walk out of camp with Sorroweyes.

Rosewing

Rosewing overheard Puddlestep and Mooneyes talk about hunting together later. "Mind if I join the two of you hunting?" She said in a quiet voice not sure if she'd be heard.

Puddlestep
She opened her eyes slowly and looked at Rosewing, "Of course, the more the merrier! Especially with prey." she glanced over to the apprentice den and noticed Reedpaw looking around. "Reedpaw! The three of us are going hunting later, mind joining us? It'd be great practice!"

Witheredstar
"Don't mind at all. It's nice for them to get training." he said as he looked over to Hawthornpaw. "We should go soon though, don't know when it'll get cold, this fall weather is really unpredictable." Witheredstar began to walk towards the forest, flicking his tail as a signal to follow him.

Sorroweyes
He rolled his eyes *can cats even do that? oh well* and began to walk out of camp. "I went into the forest so maybe we could try by the brook. If we're lucky we might find some minnows." Sorroweyes said as began at a slow trot towards the brook, it was quite a walk but he figured they'd have time before it got cold and dark; and if they didnt then they could find their way back in the dark. It'd be a wonderful training experience.

Raven Kit trotted through the nursing den, sniffling sadly as she pawed at the grass and dirt. She wanted a friend to play with but she is never greeted by anyone but the elders who poke their heads in to see her growth.

Sagewhisp heaved out a sigh, raising his head up from his curled position. He had taken a short nap, trying to re-energize himself. He got up, shaking his now thin coat, grimacing a bit. He had loved his long fur, his bright colors, but the Famine had changed it all. He eventually peaked outside of his den, smiling at the conversing cats. He backed up and stretched, back arching low to the ground. Shaking again, he trotted out with a soft smile.

Songbird was sitting near the entrance of the camp, staring off into space. Her eyes looked dull in the moment, but she quickly shook her head. Her gaze drifted over the cats, lingering her haze on a few before sighing. She wanted to get out and scout the area, mainly for any kind of prey that she could get her paws on.

Reedpaw
"Yes, I'd like to join, when you go hunting. " she called back to Puddlestep. Satisfied Reedpaw looked around for something else to entertain her while she waited. Her eyes glanced over Ravenkit who was sadly pawing at the ground. She never really gotten the chance to greet the kit, as she was always busy training, but their was no time like the present!
Determinedly Reedpaw got up and started padding towards the young kit.

Rosewing
Satisfied with getting to go hunting with the three she-cats soon she smiled softly. Rosewing wasn't quite sure what to do until then so she decided to lay down momentarily. She didn't think it was a good idea to leave camp until they wanted to hunt and she was clueless on what else to do.

Thornfur
Thornfur padded after his leader knowing his apprentice would soon catch up. "So, what's the meaning of this walk really?" The deputy asked quietly, but not in a whisper.

Fangpaw
Fangpaw was actually excited about getting to go to the brook considering that's one skill he wasn't to good at and defiantly wanted to improve. "Alright, sounds like a good idea." As they made their way to the brook the apprentices decided he wanted to spark a conversation. Soon he realized his mentor was walking a little funny, it looked like his paw was injured. "Are you okay Sorroweyes?" He asked shortly after noticing. "It looks like your paw is hurt. If you want I can search for some cobwebs for it, it might help a little, but don't get any ideas I'm trying to be nice or anything to you. I just don't want you to hold us up." He said that last part turning his nose up like he didn't care, he did though. He just didn't want his mentor to see how much he actually cared.

Puddlestep
"So rosewing," the she-cat started with lilting purr, "You seem awfully interested in Sorroweyes." Puddlestep turned to look at Rosewing who had just laid down. Despite her being lazy and tired all day she was still observant and had caught Rosewing staring at Sorroweyes multiple times while the tom had been in camp.

Witheredstar
"My father isn't doing well." he said shortly, his usual calm appearance cracking slightly. He was stressed beyond belief and having his father refuse to eat and be grumpy towards everyone was not helping. "He'll be the next, as insensitive as it sounds, I'm practically waiting for it to happen. We need to find a place to go, we can't just wander aimlessly until we stumble across a place with a third of the cats we left with. Winter's coming too and there is no chance we'll survive even a mild winter in our condition." he glanced over at his deputy. "I want you to take a few cats and scout out a place for us to go. Preferably one that has shelter and food, I'm not against staying in caves."

Sorroweyes
He looked at the apprentice through the side of his eyes. "I'm fine. We need food more than cobwebs, I suggest you let the medicine cat and his apprentice look for those." he continued walking, the throbbing was going away, or he was getting used to it, he couldn't figure it out. He was about to tease Fangpaw about how he was worried about his mentor but the sound of running water stopped him. Sorroweyes was odd, he'd always loved water and it was his preferred place to hunt. The famine had chased away the land animals but the fish were more resilient and had stuck around a little longer. Now only minnows remained but it was still a treat to be able to step foot in the water and catch them. "We're here, remember to be quick and quiet though. Fish are hard to catch, especially minnows, and once you scare them away we'll have to spend time to find them again."
