Stop! :o What about titles? Where would the titles go? Like the adept gladiator and stuff?

I think making changing usernames available (though restricted by either steep prices or time limits) is a great idea, and I'm sure there are plenty of people who would love to use it.



As for nicknames, I'm not so sure that it's really necessary? We're going to have a lot of additions to the forums, including signatures. It would be incredibly easy to put in your forum signature "Call me X" or "Nickname: X" Even right now people put on their profile page nicknames they prefer.

I think actually making nicknames a feature might wind up being terribly confusing and clunky to display. For one people may send items to a person based on their nickname rather than their username (and as much as I would love to have my inbox full of messages and items intended for people nicknamed ash, somehow I think this might upset others a bit). It would also be awkward to display, especially in chat. Chats would either become bulky with everyone appearing as "Nickname (username)" or we'd have to have only usernames in chats.

Aha but maybe it would work out well, it just seems like overall it's something that would be better left to the players to set up themselves (either through signatures, profiles, or just telling people) rather than having an official system set up for it.

I think we could have a pop-up so when we scroll over someone's username we see their nickname. Similar to the item information pop-up.

Two people have already been able to change their usernames :O

I think people are really only allowed to do so when they have a good reason (such as a misspelling, lots of numbers, or in uglybutters case everyone calling her ugly all the time orz). This would be more aimed at people who just get tired of their current username and want to change it.
