I just leveled and ranked 3 pets to R4, FROM LEVEL 0, over the past 2 months, killing bosses as often as possible as soon as my team could handle them, and only got 1 (maybe 2?) enigmatic gems the entire time. The one I know of was like right when they started hitting R4. Might have gotten one at the beginning but memory is foggy...

I've gotten 3 of the legendary held items and 2 (maybe 3?) tomes of knowledge. But I NEED the gems to boost my stoneweave gear. Only JUST got my water set to +1, and I have only ONE item at +2, and that's across the entire time I've been in the Grove.


I was hoping for at least +2 relics for each pet before the new zone comes out, but the drop rate is utter garbage, especially when it takes more than one to raise each level.

If I'm grinding away for literal months for a single gem, it's going to take me years to get everything just to a +2

Maybe I just have garbage luck, I don't know, but if that's the case some kind of guaranteed "work your butt off and get one for sure" would be great rather than "work your butt off and pray that RNGsus blesses you with a gift" :/


Edit: got 1 today while ranking tank. Still need like... 5 more just for +2 relics and dozens more if I want to boost more than that.

I was collecting data on gem and tome drop rates for a while, before Krin made it so that once you've unlocked all stoneweave items you won't get any more tomes.

During that period of data-gathering, bosses dropped a gem for me about 10% of the time. (Tomes were at 18%, but Krin at some point stated the drop rate for gems and tomes was supposed to be equal, so I think that might've just been lucky RNG.) Assuming that the drop rate is somewhere around 10-15%, and then factoring in how rarely named even seem to spawn in the first place..... yeah it can take a while to get enough gems to do much :|

To be sure, I've been able to upgrade a lot of my stoneweave... but then I was also super active in the grove for a while there ^.^; The upgrades are super useful though, they help a lot in getting around the grove faster. I imagine for a more casual player it would be frustratingly slow.

As one of those more casual gamers, I support. They don't have to rain from the sky, but it can be very slow in trying to upgrade, and since upgrading is the way to grind faster, we are sort of stuck between a rock and a hard place in my opinion :P We can't really upgrade because we aren't getting the drops for it, but we can't really get the drops, because we need to upgrade our equipment to defeat the named bosses easier and faster...

Support. Please, please make the drops a bit better. I don't have very much time to play and it's really frustrating trying to upgrade SW so I can finally have a go at the worm.
